Wakatobi Islands: Underwater nirvana like no other

Nusantara Travel Services Posted on December 4, 2019 by herlinahoDecember 4, 2019

Indonesia is a country where acronyms abound, so when I was informed I was traveling with a group of friends to Wakatobi, I assumed it was just to one island by that name. It was only later that it dawned on me that Wakatobi was also an acronym. Wakatobi is an abbreviation of the collective names for a string of islands that lie southeast of Sulawesi, which are Wangi Wangi Island, Kaledupa Island, Tomia Island and Binongko Island. It is also referred to as the Tukang Besi Islands. Sulawesi itself forms part of the archipelago of Indonesia. It lies toward … Continue reading →

If Wakatobi is a Nirvana, its patron deity must surely be Ganesha, Remover of … Continue reading →

Nusantara Travel Services Posted on May 30, 2017 by herlinahoOctober 23, 2019

Underwater wreckage that tells the story of WWII battles in the Pacific, manta rays the size of sedans and tiny critters darting in and out of coral gardens – Bali ranks high as a dream destination for most scuba divers. Thanks to its warm, calm waters and dive sites that range from beginner to advanced, Bali has an array of experiences for every diver. But packing for an underwater adventure isn’t the same as packing for a regular trip. Airline weight restrictions coupled with the specific equipment required for diving means packing only the necessities. Here’s what to pack for … Continue reading →
